Jewel Withdraws From “Dancing With The Stars”

March 7, 2009

Despite all the hype about Jewel competing against hubby Ty Murray on the hit TV reality show Dancing With The Stars, crossover country/pop star Jewel has been forced to withdraw from the show due to a leg injury.

Jewel has withdrawn from the eighth season of ‘Dancing With the Stars’ after being diagnosed with a fractured tibia in both legs. She injured herself while training for the competition. “When the doctors told me my injuries were so severe that I couldn’t walk, let alone compete, I was devastated that I couldn’t continue the show,” she said. “I have every intention of being at Dancing With the Stars this season supporting my husband, Ty (Murray), and his partner, Chelsie (Hightower). I hope to be back on the show in the future.” In addition, TV personality Nancy O’Dell has exited the competition with a knee injury, a torn meniscus. However, Jewel and O’Dell will appear on the show’s season premiere on Monday (March 9) on ABC. Additional changes to the cast will also be announced on the season premiere.”

Fellow country stars Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough, a couple performing as a team on the show, are still in it for the long hall. So the country music world will continue to be the most prominent music presence of the show.
