Call Me Crazy

February marked the one year anniversary of the launch of Country Music Central. To celebrate this milestone you the readers will have the opportunity to win a copy o the latest project from country music star Lee Ann Womack, “Call Me Crazy”. In association with Big Honcho Media, we will be giving away 5 copies of the album.

Not only did Lee Ann’s album take a spot on my top 15 albums of the years for 2008, it was also highly praised throughout the remainder of the country music community:

Released in Fall 2008 – Her highly-anticipated seventh album – produced by Tony Brown is titled Call Me Crazy. Release highlights include:

  • ACM nomination for Top Female Vocalist
  • Grammy nomination for Best Female Country Vocal Performance (“Last Call”)
  • AOL’s Country Record of the Year for 2008 (Call Me Crazy)
  • Other “Best of” lists include:  amazon.com, Wall Street Journal, CMT.com, Paste Magazine, The Dallas Morning News, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Houston Chronicle
  • Call Me Crazyis Womack’s best album yet.  All hail the queen of country.” -Billboard

Four of the twelve tracks are co-written by Womack and fans will discover two other very well-known male voices accompanying the songstress, including Keith Urban and George Strait. Last time Womack and Strait collaborated was for “Good News, Bad News”, which earned them a Country Music Association award for “Musical Event of the Year.”

Don’t enter me in the contest, but…. I think you should tackle another list. I’m a sucker for countdowns, and even though I caught on late to the Top 50 cities one, I was watching out for the 30 Soldier Songs one daily. But that’s just my opinion. Congrats on one year!

The first time I saw Leeann Womack was about 9 or 10 years ago. I was barely into ‘country.’ I didn’t get her. Over time though, the more I listened, the better the quality stuff sounded. I loved “I hope you dance,” but not as much as much as “there’s more where that came from” or “twenty years and two husbands ago.” I have those 3 on my ipod, but that’s it. Would sure love some more.
