Rodney has been possibly the most solid new artist of the past couple of years, racking up 4 #1 singles with one slip when he tried out a balled. However it doesn’t look like that consistency is going to slow down much from his minor fallout. “In America” falls in the same league as all of Rodney’s #1 hits.

Many greats have tackled the concept of America, Toby Keith, Merle Haggard, Brooks & Dunn, just to name a few. They have all approached the concept with different values in mind and in different directions. Rodney is no acception. He takes into consideration very aspect of peaceful and casual American life that that everyone thinks of on an average American day and, in light of the economic crisis, tries to re-instill a sense of pride, security and self-esteem into a nation that is beginning to forget its own values and fall in on itself. Teamed with a catchy beat and great production, Rodney continues the trend of the times by offering an American pride song at a time when people need it the most.

Love it or hate it this song is what America needs right now and is bound to strike a chord with true Americans and true country fans alike. Even if it’s not the best song in Atkins’ arsenal, and even though it does kind of advertise a sound that Curb has tried to force on its artists over and over again, this at least deserves a good listen. Maybe it won’t be #1, maybe it will bring Rodney back to the the top, but one thing is for sure, this song is just as good as “Courtesy of The Red, White, and Blue” or “Only In America” in the long list of America songs that country music has to offer.

I disagree here “Courtesy…” and “Only In America” are both much better written than this, plus Rodney’s voice just sounds bored on here. I like Rodney and really hope that this is just the work of Curb trying to get him back on the radio, because I thought he had better taste in material than this.

I didn’t really mean it was a well written as “Only In America” and “Courtesy..”, I actually meant to support an earler statement I made on another blog when I related Rodney to Garth in order to show that Rodney may actually have it figured out how he can stick around a while. The fans love this song and it’s pretty catchy given the chance, but no not as well aritten as it could have been, just in the same league as far as popularity, following and meaning.

I think that this new song is fabulous. It breeds a certain air of nationalism, and pride for the country. Exactly what is needed today. It puts faith in the greatness if America. Definently a number one chaser. Maybe you have to be a Texan to understand the great amount pride it offers in the country. The meaning is impeccable. Great song.

The unfortunate part is that we identify and fight with it, react
and respond to it and treat it as if it is a living breathing entity.
