Single Review: “15 Minutes Of Shame” by Kristy Lee Cook

July 26, 2008

The latest American Idol Alumni to hit the country music scene is in fact last season’s miss country, Kristy Lee Cook. On that note there’s nothing better than hitting the scene with a casual and upbeat kiss-my-ass song to a heart-breaker.

This song does lack a lot as far as showing the potential Kristy’s voice had on the show. However, there are aspects that make up for this lack of blow-your-mind vocal rendition. Instead of boring listeners with another ballad, Cook shows off her true country side in a song that has her taking center stage to literally expose her ex-boyfriend’s wrong-doings all over the airwaves and get you laughing and taping your toes along the way. Even without showing off Cook manages to find a very comfortable range for her voice that produces a very pure country sound. All in all Kristy’s debut single is an entertaining song that holds back just enough to avoid perfection, but not so much where it deniesthat this idol truly does belong in this genre. If this is any sign of where Kristy might take the genre, I’ll come along for the ride.

I agree, this is a great little song, and I like it, I really excited to see her do a power ballad which I hear will be on her album.

I really like this song. It’s a great catchy tune…while be simple enough to relate to everyone in some way or another. Can’t wait to hear more from her.
