Single Review: “Love Remembers” by Craig Morgan

May 14, 2008

Having shifted to BNA from his start off label, Broken Bow Records, Craig makes an attempt to secure his position as a valuable listen in the ears of country music’s cult of fans. Most singers are known to suffer from slight setbacks resulting from a shift in labels, most recently Phil Vassar and Jimmy Wayne have proven this with their switches to Universal and Big Machine respectively. However unlike these two artists who used sentimental values and meaning to try and secure their place, a tactic that required several attempts to perfect, Craig uses something new, a mid tempo song that pretty much defines the cross sections that country music has evolved into.

“Love Remembers” accomplishes its purpose by providing Craig with an attractive and very catchy tune that will no doubt go down as one of his biggest hits to date. Even compared to Craig’s other hits like “Redneck Yacht Club” this song dominates in listening value. As far as securing a flawless hit that will have people blasting their radios and singing along to every word Craig has hit the nail on the head and on that note has likely dodged the curse of the label shifts that has haunted many great artists.

Craig Morgan is a very talented and exceptional country traditionalist. From His very first hit “Almost Home” to “International Harvester” it’s been hit after hit. I predict his staying power will far surpass the newcomers of today’s generation. He gets my bid.

I thought the lyrics were GREAT. The notion that “we forget, but Love remembers” gives me chills just listening to this song. The lyrics really hit home, don’t know what the reviewer is “missing.” Love comes to all of us, at least once, We hope, with “the promise of forever.” Five stars!
