Single Review: “Cry Lonely” by Cross Canadian Ragweed

March 4, 2008

I’ve always supported these guys. They have a lot of underestimated talent and their lead singer, Cody Canada, is a songwriting genius. The band takes a nice southern rock, country flip to the old moral of the boy who cried wolf and brings into the concept of love and being used. Its not always easy being the backup plan for a girl who continuously puts herself through broken hearts. Cody’s sings the song just right and adds a sense of sincerity to the character’s personality explaining that he will keep giving into his lady friend loneliness and needs, but he won’t always be there.

Creative songwriting and awesome production make this a great song. Its not flawless, but its not horrible by any means. Its to bad these guys are outside the country music mainstream. Its songs like these that just make you feel good. When you hear it you don’t really care about what its about the first time around, its just catchy and a fun song to listen to.

Have been a fan of these guys for 3 years, and finally got to see them live this past Sat. I had such high expectations, and am very glad to say I was not disappointed in the least. Great sound, great songs, and a great live show….I know they are not widely known, but damn do they deserve to be.
