Single Review: “Love” by Sugarland
Welcoming in 2009 is the third official single from Sugarland from their highly successful third project Love On The Inside. “Love” was first revealed at the 2008 CMA awards where it was approached with a somewhat magical presentation of umbrellas and color to fit the mood.
This mood is one of mystery and imagination as their song explores the many definitions of love from the most simple and obvious to the most complicated and philosophical. In the process the two hold back on providing a specific reality behind the emotion which makes for a very interesting song to say the least. While somewhat confusing in its delivery, its intention is rather open to interpretation and it is this that becomes the outlying beauty of the song by avoiding the cliche tactics of traditional love songs and create a more open and universal message. Most of all it shows off one major aspect of Sugarland that definitely continues to present a lot of promise for the young duo, they are surprisingly consistent and know a good song when they hear one.
Grade: B+
Yet another single I’ve been meaning to review. xD
This song has grown on me since they performed it on the CMA’s; I didn’t really like it before then. Now it’s one of my absolute favorites! I like how it shows how describing love never gets to the “heart” (pardon the pun) of what love means. All you can say is “It’s love.”
